Original Artwork for a 1975 22-2 CC
« on: May 31, 2013, 09:03:14 AM »
Fellow Aquasporters!!! I am looking for some good pics and or mock ups of the original artwork for the year and style of my boat. Getting ready to do some other cosmetic stuff and I am going to take the time to have the artwork done to original. Please post anything that will get me started down the right road. And as always Thanks a boat load!

BB

Hi BB,
Are you aware that the original side emblems were plastic molded applique's? There was a gentleman on the forum making replacements up to about a year ago but I havent heard if he is still doing it.

He may still be producing them, it was our member Flkeysaqua. If you are interested, I probably can find his contact info.

Additionally...we may be able to source these same green badges through another member.

They are also available in polished stainless on the Vendor forum.

I was trying to find the thread that talked about the badge/logo casting that guy was doing. Do you think he could do a 240 casting? Sorry to hijack.

Chris (flkesaqua) decided a couple of years ago to quit making the badges. He was advised to stop because of copyright infringement. I had acquired a set of 19-6 badges and a 22-2 badge just to have one. I do not have the mold making material at this time but one day I will probably start to make duplicates but not at this time. Tx49 , do you have one of the 240 badges?

The e-mail link I provided was to Flkeysaqua....so guess that's a no-go.

The copyright infringement...heck, the company doesn't even exist....which is great, sure don't want my Aquasport hat seized

Lew, didn't we have another source, through Bruce? tx

IMO, that copyright infringement bit was all BS.  And think about it, what's the worst thing that could happen should Genmar's lawyers get wind of the little venture?  Tell him to stop...

Agreed! i doubt they even think about Aquasport anymore and there is probably a statute of limitations that works in our favor.
Does anyone on here know how to make molds? I have tried calling some local hobby stores about "mold making" and done a few google searches, but have struck out for the most part. if anyone knows what material to use or has a good link to making molds, I'd be willing to give it a shot. I have a pretty good 22-2 original plaque but its missing the bottom part of the q.

Pete those emblems are made by the shop next to my office.  I helped them develop those using an original emblem from one of our members.  They also make classic Mako stuff too.  Here is a link to their website: http://www.boathelpshop.com/main.sc
