Getting close! finally!  I have downsized my dream to a 19-6 and looking for insight, as I am gearing up for a purchase.  If they did, then when did Aquasport go to no wood construction, and did the overall quality remain as solid?  I prefer the low cap on the 70's models, but the 80's and 90's seem a bit easier to find.  These couple of questions and any other insight might have would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

all of the aquasports no mater the year have some sort of wood in the deck(balsa or plywood in some boats) seems the years after 1998 have a poured composite transom, my '96 had wood...

are you looking for a running ready to float boat or a project boat?

The 19-6 and 200 Osprey are the same hull. The 200 features a taller gunnel cap (ring cap) to increase freeboard. As the weight increased slightly so did the max HP rating.

Either way, you'll be pleased. A sweet-running hull, great in a chop. Surprisingly dry, no quirks, and economical to operate

Thanks for your reply.  I accidentally reposted, because I did not notice the top parts of the forum are permanent and thought I may have messed it up. I would like one that is in usable condition, but planning to rebuild in the next couple of years.  Of course still wanting a great deal, if I can find it.

The 200 Osprey uses the same hull at the 19-6. The difference is the liner and cap between the two. If you can not find an older one, you can get the newer one and have a few options:
1. Use the liner and deal with it
2. Remove the liner and build your own cap
3. Locate a cap from the year you like and put it on.

I have a 1986 200 Osprey that I was going to do option 2 with, but found a 19-1 gull with the cap I wanted so I picked it up.  I also sent you a PM

Thanks for all the info.  My wife and I are finishing up a large home improvement project, and  I will be able to focus on finding the right one. 19-6 that is...  I'll keep watching the rebuilds until I find mine, then I'll really watch. Thanks.

One more question.  I know on the 222 everyone raises the the deck for self bailing. Is this the same with the 19-6 or do they self bail okay with scupper, when the transoms are enclosed?

It's not about the enclosed transom.  The 191 was designed for a 70 or maybe a 90 back in the day - nice light engines.  The newer heavier motors make the boats too heavy in the aft to keep the scuppers above the waterline, hence raising the deck to raise the scuppers.
The 222 was designed for possibly two of the thin light engines.

Here is a link with the 200 Osprey cap removed. Once removed, you can see the lines of the original 19-6 and can tell its the same hull with a different liner/cap. You can just get any newer one and remove the cap/liner then build the old school cap to look old, but newer

A friend (original owner) has a mid-70s 222 with a 175 Johnson.  The trough gets water, but the deck is dry with a normal load.  Only when the aft area is full od dive gear and 2-3 warm bodies, does water come onto the deck.

If the foam in a 19-6 is real wet she will sit lower in the water. You can always put scuppers on the drains.
