Classic proline 20 rebuild
« on: October 13, 2012, 11:04:14 PM »
Hello everyone my name is evan and i recently bought a old flatback proline. I statrted the process of cutting the liner and floor out. and she sits on a cradle i bulit for the overhall. My plans are a half tower with enclosed transom and porta bracket. Ive lurked on her for a long time and finally decided to get my hand dirty. Look forward to any advise along the way!

Heres her new home for a while...

I like the cradle. Building the same thing for my rebuild to work on her in the garage this winter. Good luck with the build, those 20's have nice lines.
One boat at a time.

If you do the rebuild anything like the cradle, it'll be a stout boat. :thumleft:

Got the rest of the floor out and most of the foam. I went to lift the cap from the transom and the other owner had glassed it to the hull. should i just cut it off with a cut off wheel?

Yes, ideally youd be able to cut down to the outside skin and pry it up and off, depending on how well they glued it (or not).  Probably easier to cut across the cap about where that orange screwdriver is though. Then glass it back later...

Cut off wheel or die grinder will take care of that in a heartbeat...

Got the rest of the foam and started the dreadful process of cleaning 40+ years of dirt and rotten wood out of her. Im trying to get it pretty clean before i sand blast the inside of the hull.

You guys ever notice the incredible difference between AS stringers and PL stringers of the same vintage?

Yeah the only thing left of the proline stringers are the few tabs of glass and a bunch of dirt dobber nest, a rat was living in them too lol

Evan,
Where you at in Wesley Chapel?  Get down 41 a lot heading either down Florida Ave or picking up Dale Mabrey S of 54...
