Transom Angles
« on: October 14, 2014, 10:47:27 AM »
Gentlemen,

morning, I need some quick help from the Pro's here, I am still in Okinawa leaving for Italy tomorrow, The help I need is I am still looking for a used bracket for the boat.. I came across a stainless marine bracket, looks good and the price is right, however it came off a older 29 Proline 1990's era, does anyone have an idea what the transom angle would be on that proline?? I cant seem to find the answer.. Please Help, my 250CCP needs between 13-15 Degrees.. thanking you all in advance :salut:  :salut:  :?:  :?:

Let's ask the Pro Line Guy

25 footer. Probably close to the 29 though.
Maybe he'll come out of retirement and post up.

Good luck.

OK now, before we all get carried away, I just received a call from Pro Line's Customer Service, a Mr. Chuck Wagner.
I don't know him (or anyone else in the boat business) but he was nice enough to return my call so....

He stated he felt that era PL had a 12 degree transom angle. That stated, I did a couple of gizintas and here's my thought.
14 or 12 still is only a 2 degree change over say 26"+/-. That's about an inch.
You should be able to trim out any difference with your TnT.

Good luck.

Typically, PL's transom angles were at 13 to 14 degrees while I was there...long after the 2950 ceased production.  We had some issues with Stainless Marine brackets not mating up with 29 and 32 Expresses, so I got real good with my angle finder...

CB, Chuck Wagner was Donzi's "go to" parts guy and Cust Serv guru.  Excellent man... :thumright:

Again, this whole working from afar is a "roll the dice" deal IMHO. Your last sentence sums it up quite well.

I totally agree. He was very friendly and helpful. Stated he had a few barnacles on him from the boating biz. Always nice to get a return call and some insight from the ol' timers. :thumleft:

Again Navy, we're trying to help (and confidence level is high) so there's our best input. Still, I'd be leery without some measurements from the bracket itself.

Just sayin'

Good luck.

An owner will find that the vast majority of boats out there, regardless of builder, have transom angles between 12 and 14 degrees.  The 2 degree difference can be taken care of (without using the TNT) by either trim limit pins (14* transoms to limit negative trim) or transom wedges (12* transoms to bring zero trim closer to zero)...

Gentleman,

Once again thank you, I am still trying to get the info for the year of the boat, but from what I am hearing it looks like it will work based off of the proline angles for that era boat...will give it a day or 2 to see if I get a response on the year..

Thanks,

Gents,

since it was a Stainless marine bracket, I thought I would shoot them a email, well they responded right quick and told me that they made those brackets for that model year boat, all 13* and with a 28 or 30 setback.. Thanks for all the help, your awesome..

Navy :salut:
