19-6 FF Original Rear Cleat Position?
« on: June 03, 2008, 11:25:45 PM »
I have a '78 19-6 FF with no rear cleats!     Does anyone know where they were originally located/situated?  I'm guessing high inside the gunwales but can't decide if vertical or horizontal makes more sense?

I have a 77 22.2 and the style changed in 78., but mine are mounted on the inside of the transom under the gunnel. The rope goes through a haas pipe in the gunnel. Hope this helps!

arrgh.  i have hull liner at that junction and no sign of hawse pipes or cleats mounted on the teak boards.  i'll probably just toggle cleats to the hull liner aft.  ugly but should be effective.

Post a picture of what it looks like BEFORE you do it, so we have a better idea of what you're talking about.

I've got a three original aluminum cleats from my boat (I replaced them with pop-up stainless).  These would match the others on your boat.  They are free for the asking if you want to use them.  PM with an address and they're yours.

Maybe I should also list this in Classified...???

See ya on the water!

I have a 1975 FF 19'6 that I have owned for 20 years. I am not sure that I know how to post pictures but will try to do so and show you where mine are located, if that helps.

The boat did not have the spring cleats, originally. My boat stays in the water and I added those (fore and aft) years ago, for a bit more security at the dock since the boat is about 40 miles from my home. I use the boat to get back and forth to a house I have on an Island off the Georgia coast and that is the reason for all the canvas - great for year round use but not at all good for fishing. You can see that my rod holders are forward of the aft cleats, and that is the original location for those, I believe.
