Salt,
Wanted to retire from MM, but once the Soviet Union went belly up, and we didn't need all the defense programs anymore...well, let's just say our plant went from 12,500 down to 3500 by the time I got laid off...

Ya Bob I know how that was. We went from over 20,000 to just under 10,000 around that time. I lucked out for most of the layoffs. I always had just enough years in to stay above were then would stop with each layoff. The closes they got to me was the guy just under me with 3 mons. less time then me. The company would try and keep with the years you had with them. I guess they didn't want to end up in court over hitting to many older guys. NG didn't follow the same plan when they bought us out. So they got hit with a age discrimination suit and lost. So I guess Westinghouse’s way, ended up the best for the company and for me. But as soon as I could retire, man I was out of their like a shot and haven’t looked back since. bwahahaha    Guys I worked with said I wouldn't be able to sit a round in retirement. Said I would be back after just a few years. they even had a pool on it  . So when I moved out of state. They couldn't believe it. I told them Who and to hell said I wouldn't have anything to do. I've got so many projects in play or planning that I don't know how I would have time to go back to work. The great part of it all is, I'm doing what I want to do. Not what some one else tells me to do. :thumleft:

Well, got really digging into her today...

Now here is a truly certified "Marine" connection...

Twisted wires and duct tape...

Did make a little progress...

Going to re-do that, just felt like getting somewhere...

A panel comparison...

Amazing builders pay panel/electronics companies to put out this crap...

JJ,
To be honest with you, I can't wait to get back at her tomorrow.  Can't tell you the amount of times I got so pissed off today that such a beautiful 22-2 could be shamed by such piss-poor wiring...

The rain gods weren't kind to me today, but progress is being made...

Got the area around the amp a little more to my liking...

And made a small panel to consolidate batt switch, as well as add a helm ground and hot bus...try to get all the in-lines in one place (yeah, I know, I need to cut that one out under the amp! )...

Hopefully, the rain gods will have some mercy on me tomorrow...

So a bit more progress made today.  Basically finished the port side except for a ground lead from the batt to the ground bus...

His batt area, now void of crap...

Got started on the starboard side, need to pick up supplies...

She's getting there!

Bob that is a really good looking job. You need to teach a class to those companies that build panels and install wiring in boats.  :thumleft:

Bob man if I where ready for wiring I would take you up on that offer in a hart beat. But once the cold weather comes in up here for the winter. I’m putting my 222 ccp in a friends barn and striping her down to replace the deck and then I’m striping the console for painting and  I’m going to make a number of changes for mounting of gages and electronics. The guy who had that boat. Put gages all over the place. When one stopped working instead of replacing it. He would just add a new one down on the console, instead of in the panel. I'm then adding three more coats of paint to my haul. I’m also thinking hard about those graphics you suggested.

Well, she went from this...

To this, in about a week...

I'd love to cut about 20' out of that effin Merc engine harness, but Merc doesn't allow you to.  Get bumpster's LEDs in, and we shall have some neat nightime pics...

You sir have inspired me to rewire my 22-2. I have had this boat about 2 months, and have really enjoyed this site......  I have gained some real inspiration as to what my boat can look like. No pics posted yet, but will work on that tomorrow.
