I've been in contact with a couple of boat restorers and have received some initial estimates. I'm checking out their references this week.

My plans for the boat are to keep the basic layout. Because I won't be taking this boat offshore I'm keeping the original transom configuration.

I will be adding a a small baitwell/leaning post combo. I'm going to take off the bow rail (it needs replacing anyway) and anything that a castnet would catch on (thinking about pop-up cleats, integrated bow lights, etc.).

I'm going to take out the teak rod holders (they're mostly broken anyway) and just use my leaning post and gunwale mounted rod holders.

The boat will get a new deck, new foam, new transom, new wiring, new fuel hoses and fittings, refurbished console, stainless steel thru-hulls, and new paint inside and out. I'm trying to decide on a hull color...I kind of like Carolina Blue or Fighting Lady Yellow...opinions?

Power will be a new Johnson 90 2-stroke and it will ride on a new aluminum trailer.

I'm passing on the Troll'n Tabs for now since I've been reading about high problem rates. Other than electronics and a decision between bimini or a t-top that's about it!

Sounds like you're going to do her up in fine style... Any "before" pix available for posting?

I vote for Carolina Blue.  After all, she's a Carolina boat.

Now that's a right proper garage; full of boat rather than car!

Suggestion: When you get going on the restoration if you have any bits & pieces that become surplus you might want to offer them to the group in the classified section before you chuck them.

Have you gotten any sort of a lead-time from the restoration shops?  It'll be a sharp looking rig when the job's done...

I'll have to find a place to put it when it's done. For now I've got my 1993 Boston Whaler Outrage 21 and the 1974 Boston Whaler Outrage 21 in there. I'll have to put in another garage!

Timing wise it looks like I'll get started in a week or two.

Looks like my fiberglass guy will be starting next week!

Plan is:

-Replace deck
-Replace transom
-Remove bow rails and smooth out front deck (pop-up cleats and side mounted LED running lights)
-Eliminate all teak
-Install this leaning post/livewell combo (http://www.commandcenterseating.com/products/junior.asp)
-Fill in holes in console
-Rewire boat
-Paint boat Carolina Blue (very light blue)
-Put on a new E-Tec 90 or 115

I'll post pictures as work progresses!

You'll have a brand-new 1974 boat all set for this Spring.  Progress pix will be interesting to see.

Boat gets picked up Saturday, April 8th. I couldn't get to my house at a time where we could both meet.

Work is underway! Deck is off. Both stringers had dry foam but the stringers had separated from the hull! Someone in the past liked jumping waves. Those are now glassed back down.

The good news is the builder swears that the transom is solid and has no issues. The transom is ugly but solid. I've asked him to drill some test holes to make sure.

The new deck should be going in next week.

I've decided to paint the hull and cap white (with a little flattener to take the glare off) and the deck a light gray. I had planned on a light blue but decided to keep the original color. The green rubrail wouldn't look good with the light blue!

I'm still in the market for a leaning post/livewell combo. The commandcenter one is pretty expensive and I am really afraid that a 50 gallon livewell is overkill for a 19-6 hull. Any additional ideas are welcomed. I am having a bronze thru-hull seacock put in for the livewell as well as a thru-hull transducer while the deck is off (I detest hanging stuff off the transom).

I'm still debating power. Since I'm keeping the 20" transom a 4-stroke will be too heavy. I haven't decided if I'll look for "slightly" used or spring the cash for new.
