OK, I'm about to foam in the tank.  It looks brand new, but was sitting in the boat (I the coffin area covered, but not fastened) for a while with the vent not covered or anything.

I can't hear any sloshing of water, sand or anything.  Do you think it would be ok to proceed and let the water seperator do it's job?

Thank you

alex, put some simply green and a little water in it slosh it around
pour out what you can hook up a shop vac tape to filler neck and
it will get the rest out.

OK well the floor is coming up.  Since I have everything out, I checked for dampness and it was there.  Stringers look good, but the floor is coming out and then the boat will have no wood left!  Pictures to follow soon!

Oh boy the floor is really hard to get up off the stringers because it's wet but not rotten.  I think I have figured out a way.  I am going to cut out the coffin, remove and then cut around the edges of the floor.  Then I will take a sazall to the top or the stringers.  Sound good?

I know the floor doesn't look that bad but trust me it was very wet.  I could have used it for a couple years, but I am going to do it right the first time.  No Wood No Rot!

Wow, that brings back BAD memories.

Sawzall trick should work.  I also used an air chisel, but I knew the tops of the stringers would be cut off to dig out foam- so I didn't mind sacrificing that layer.  Turns out the stringers needed to be completely removed anyway.

Well all the floor is out with the top of the stringers.  Off all next week to finish floor and transom hopefully.  My question is, Should I put the coffin back in?  It's in good shape, but I see most people are just flooring over their tanks.  My luck, something would go wrong with the tank after I finish!

where are the best posting about the liquid transom approach?  I have a 1977 19-6 that could use some transom work.

2 Quick questions:

1.  Please give me the wiring lowdown on the fuel tank?
2.  I cut the top of the stringers off to get the floor out, ground the side of the stringers down and re-foamed the top.  My question is how do I level off the foam.  Run a line from side to side (gunnels) where I left the lip for the new floor to site on?

Please advise?

Ok I finally figured it out   .  I put two screws on the outside edge of the stringers, at each end of the floor where I left to cleat the new floor to.  See Below.

Then I formed the stringer with doorskin wrapped in plastic screwed to the outside edge of the stringer.  Then I filed the excess foam down to the level of the strings.  See Below.

There are still some low spots I will finish tomorrow and glass the tops down the sides of the stringer.  Install the Tank and cut the floor.  More pics below before I figured out to run the line parallel to the outside edge   .

More pictures tomorrow.

Hey - random question.  I have a 1977 19-6 that I am chiping away at - not as deep as your project, but bet I'll be there some day...

The liners in the horizontal rod holders on each gunnel have dropped out - wondering if you have any ideas on where you might be able to find some kind of replacement.  You have the same ones on your boat.

was thinking PVC pipe or something with a flange, but have not found the right fitting...

Beside a salvage yard, I don't know.  But I'm sure you could get the closest size of PVC and fiberglass them in.  Sorry I couldn't be more help.

On another note, I will not be doing the pourable transom anymore,  I found a pre-cut (1 3/4 inch thick similar to Coosa) on the internet for 75.00 (Shipped), plus fees and taxes.  Picture to follow soon, finishing the stringers this week.

Alex, please share with us where you found the transom and if they are available to others or was this a one time deal. Thanks Rich
