1987 Osprey Fuel Tank replacement
(1/1)
InMaineWoods:
I have a 1987 Osprey 200. Awesome boat, repowered with Yamaha 115 HP several years ago. The 33-year-old original fuel tank is DONE!. I am looking for specifications/recommendations and sources for a replacement fuel tank. I believe the original tank capacity is 65 gallons but I don't need all that capacity for summer seasonal running around. Also, I am located in Maine so anything close by is appreciated. Thanks! Andy

I had pretty good luck with Great Lakes Skipper, just search for Fuel Tank on their site, lots in stock.

Also Moeller's website has good info on all the shapes/sizes they have available.

You may wish to contact Phil.

He is a long time member and has many of the Aqua tank dimensions. He can also create a custom size.

I am a new owner of a 1986 Osprey 170. How do I access ways to view the condition of the tank?

Best place to start is by pulling the hatch cover over the coffin.
This tells you the condition on the top and if there is moisture in the coffin.
Thing is, most pinhole corrosion is usually found on the lower/bottom portion of the tank. To check that, you need to pull the tank.
Hulls that old with the original tank often require replacement.
Good luck. :thumright:
