cabin door

(1/1)

CaptJeff:
I see some old posts about members looking for a new cabin door. Since some of them are old I thought I would bring up the subject again.

I am looking for a new cabin door for my 96 245 Explorer. The top part is cracked and held together with aluminum strips and screws. Seems doubtful that I'll find a new one but crazier things have happened.

Capt. Bob:
I'll assume it's a two piece, hinged bi-fold, smoked plexiglass style.

Personally I've always wanted to replace mine with a louvered teak bi- fold but wasn't sure how the hatch cover would work.

That stated, I'm guessing you'll need to find a plexiglass shop you cut you two panels. Then have them drill the hinge mounting holes. Of course if you have the right tools you could drill the holes yourself. Either way, i don't think you'll find an "OEM" bi-fold but then, I really haven't looked.

Good luck. :thumright:

RickK:
Jeff, you can have a Plastics company make one for you.  You'll probably have to take what you have so they can see what they need to make and get some measurements.
