Man that profile pic looks good. What setback JP did you get?

It is a 10" set back. I think it will work good for me. In that picture the jack plate is in the lowest position.

Looks like you can get powerhead up and over the transom while tilting it. What is the travel of the JP? 6 or 10"? Looks like 6"

I believe the travel is 5 or 6".

Yes, I was shooting for having the cavitation plate about 1" higher than the bottom of the boat. Hopefully this works out good. Easy to unbolt the motor from the jack plate if it does need adjustment. I did hang the motor on the next to highest bolt hole for steering clearance reasons also.

Water test complete! The boat did great. Very happy with how it came out. The waterline of the boat came out just about perfect and the scuppers are 1-2" above the waterline. I'm sure with a big load I will need to plug them, but that is ok with me. Only had to make one adjustment on the water, the throttle cable needed to be adjusted a little to reach full throttle. Other than that no issues and the boat ran great through some of our normal chop. The boat planed out great and no porpoising. Very happy with how she performed. No idea on speed yet, but it felt good!


Now I need to mount a few accessories like rod holders and cup holders, and pick up a depth finder/GPS combo.

Looks great!! Nice work! Thanks for sharing. What kind of load is this with? Gallons of fuel …and how batteries are distributed around the boat? Assume 2 batteries inside the console? How long is the console and how far is the back edge of it from the transom inside skin?

I had 25 gallons of gas in (40 gal tank). There is one battery in the console. Console is 26" long. I will have to check on the distance from console to transom.

Thanks Nate. I wanted something that could fish/shrimp/crab hard but still have a decent look. I tried to make everything easy to work on and simple too.

Hey dmont,

Id be curious to see how things are going with the new build. I am planning a similar build keeping it simply but might add a little more weight in the way of a 4-stroke motor and small 4'' jack plate. How is the honeycomb material feel on your feet?

The honeycomb is solid. I put one layer of 1708 over the bottom and two over the top, with an extra layer over areas that were not well supported. I also put 6" tape over all the joints. No flex at all, even over the fuel tank where the deck is not supported. Also distance from back of console to transom is 77" measured along the deck.
