Trying to find the location of the windlass solenoid on a 2004 250 explorer. Anyone have any thoughts?  Issue im exp is windlass will work then slow down then stop when attempting retrieval. Thanks

That could be tough.  The power cables to the windlass should be heavy and hopefully short but the control wires aren't heavy and can be run long distance to the solenoid. Might be easiest to follow the heavy wires.

my guess is it is located in either the rope locker or behind the starboard side aft cabin panel above the sink.
