Aquasport 19-6 conversion to flats boat

Below are pictures of my 19-6 Aquasport undergoing a transformation into the shape of a Flats Boat!
 I'll post the progress as it comes along. I've never run the boat or ridden any 19-6. Looking forward to getting feedback from other 19-6 owners on the follwing issues:

1. fuel tank placement to optimize performance?
2. do i need trim tabs with this hull?
3. Does anyone know the maximum hull speed for this hull (per design)
4. 150 hp 2 stroke - performance? Can i put

i ran a 200hp evinrude on my 200 osprey, saw mid 50's with a very light load, 49-51 mph with a with an average to full load
i ran bennett's 9x12 sport tabs, with a jackplate and heavy v6, thay are needed to get on plane in shallower water.

Honestly I'd think you'd be fine with something in the 130hp range, and on the very top end a 150hp.  Hell I run a 90hp on my 19-6 and its fine.  Even with 4 adults and 2 kids onboard.

Try posting some pics, I want to see what you've done.

1) fuel tank placement will depend on what motor you decide on.
2) trim tabs - yes, every boat should have them.
3) no clue
4) The boat was originally rated for 185hp, if you're redoing the transom and stringers a 200hp should be no problem.

I just bought a '74 19-6 last august. She has a 115 Yami 2-stroke and with two aboard I'm getting about 34mph with a chowdered prop. I have a 40 gal cell that i think is centered under the console. Screw the tabs, haven't seen a need on my boat and I've had 4 adults and 2 kids aboard. I've trolled 10-12 hrs a day for bluefish up here in Maine and have a hard time burning through 15 gallons. I think it will make an excellent flats boat but keep your weight down. Motor up I can float 12" looking for stripers on our sand bars. Any plan on adding a trolling motor to the bow? Love to see your progress as a new floor/fuel cell(maybe)/fuel hatch are in my future. I've been impressed with the hull performance so far.

super easy ! below is how I do it for all the forums I visit.

1. go to http://www.postimage.org/
2. go to "browse" and search for your image in your "pictures" or "documents" and double click on image
3. select "upload it"
4. once image uploads, go down to "hotlink to forums 1" copy link and post on forum, VIOLA ! theres your pic.

ADMIN Edit: You are very close in getting the pics up here - When you paste in the code for your pics from your hosting site, delete everything except the {img}pic path{/img} (just replace the {} with [])and your pics will show up fine.  Check this out - click the "edit" button in the bottom of this post and view the code that is below and you'll see what I mean. Boat is looking good.

I'm planning to build the cap 2" over the width of the hull so it acts as a spray rail, from what i've read the hull can be a little wet due to its Chine.

No wood! I've used 1.5" nidacore for the bulkheads and stringers. All the parts were built on a flat table mold with templates to use as little nidacore as possible, it's expensive! One mat and one nytex on each side.   The total weight of all the bulkheads and stringers before install was 87 lbs  I figure with the material i've used to install the parts I should be right at around 100 lbs added to the bare hull so far. The transom reinforcement probably added another 40 lbs. Still have deck, cap, to go. I'm guessing the final hull weight without motor, platform etc will be under 1000 lbs.

I've decided to place the fuel tank in front of the front bulkhead, moving the weight forward as much as possible. 42gls aluminum. The fuel fill will be under the front hatch, I'll have to open the hatch to fuel up and I'll have to be careful not spill any gas!!

I'll be installing a 150-200hp yamaha 2 stroke, all depends on what becomes available first. The weight difference is a mere 10lbs. Thanks for all your feedback. I will continue to post pictures as it comes along.
