Transducer mounting location on a 20 W/A
« on: April 11, 2022, 09:29:17 PM »
Just purchased a Garmin unit with side imaging. It’s transducer is about 4” long. Has anyone found the magic mounting location regarding how far from the center line it should be mounted so prop does not cavitate and I can still get great side imaging performance? My current transducer is about 12” from center on starboard side. I am afraid at this location the lower unit would block the port side imaging.
Thanks
Ed

The location of your present transducer is probably the best, your engine could block some of the signal but you could always trim out the engine a bit to clear it. I have a similar transducer on mine in the same location and have no issues with the side scan.
