test new fill line for leaks

(1/1)

Cpt. Beyond:
Im about to seal up my deck cover and hopefully not ever have to see my new aluminum tank in its entirety for at least a couple decades and was wondering... should i, and if so how, test the fill line for a leak at the connection points? i did 2 SS straps on the hull boat fill and 5 SS straps on the tank. or should one just presume its good to go. thanks.

Capt. Bob:
Well, I've replaced two tanks and did not pre-test the fill lines. I did/do have access to the lines via deck plates and viewed each on the maiden fill. I do check occasionally but have been lucky (I guess) and either had/has developed leaks over the years.

Good luck. :thumright:

boatnamesue:
Tank is vented so fill tube doesn’t pressurize….and if vent became blocked for some reason then fuel would dump out the filler as your pumping it in.  No worries…1 tubing clamp does the job.
