Need to paint the engine shroud I built

(1/2) > >>

Snapperslayer:
So I built an engine shroud to block some engine noise for my family to enjoy the boat a little better. Just some cheap foam, glassed inside and out with 1708, now it’s time to fair and paint. Does anyone know of a gel coat color or paint that is close to the topside color for my 93 explorer? It doesn’t need to be a match, just close.

Before glass

Capt. Bob:
Wish I could help. I'm guessing you have the same "off white" color used in the early 90s. I have always felt that those years had the most lackluster paint and decal themes of the Aqua line.

That stated, I do look forward to seeing your shroud in place and if it helps with the engine noise.

Good luck with the paint search. :thumright:

My Hull is painted and has a fresh AquaSport decal so it looks pretty new, the topside has a few blemishes around the rear corners above the rub rail but overall it looks like a much newer boat, the gel coat is dull like a matte finish but not powdery, I’m going to go get some paint swatches at the hardware store and just use tinted garage floor epoxy paint for now, maybe down the line when that needs refreshed I’ll pay someone to match the gel coat color if I don’t buy a different boat. Spent all my boat funds for the year on the lowrance hds unit and motorguide 105lb 36v trolling motor. Next year I will build a custom hardtop too, man boating is expensive lol.

Here a decent side shot that shows the nice color, from the sellers listing when I purchased the boat.
