Hull Cleaning Solution

(1/1)

boatnamesue:
Can anyone recommend a spray-on wipe-off solution good for removing the layer of grim on the hull underside?  I'm pretty certain the bottom paint is white and not that tan color lol.  Many thanks!

RustAid aka oxalic acid aka Starbrite Teak Brightener.

Spray it on. Make sure to wet the entire surface, give it a minute or two then rinse it off with a hose. Keep it off the trailer or rinse it quickly if you get it on it. It tends to oxidize aluminum.

I get a lot of tannin stains in this portion of the Gulf along with the standard waterline stains. This stuff works very well on this as well as the occasional rust one finds on "stainless" fittings and will make teak trim (after cleaning) look brand new.

Good luck. :thumright:

Awesome, thanks bud!

I've been trying barkeepers friend.  Stuff works great and it's cheap.
