Haven't seen any Striper 165's
« on: November 16, 2012, 05:05:34 PM »
Hi I just became a member here and while checking out the site I noticed that I haven't found any Striper 165's here yet. Maybe I'm just missing them or there just aren't may around.I just picked up a pretty clean one up here in NY with low hours on the motor. Hopefully I'll find some posted.

My short-term memory is not as sharp as it used to be.

Welcome aboard  :salut:
There is a few members here with your model but not many - I would say it is a rarer model.

Do you think its rarer or that its because its more of a bay/lake boat rather than an ocean boat?

Actually Rick, we built a bunch, both the Striper and her twin sister, the WC 160CCF.  Whatever happened to them all?  Beats me...

I remember Jessie posting a pic of one on the water in Charleston. There are probably a bunch of them still around, but as with all the rest of Aquasport owners out there, not a whole lot of them want to join an internet forum and take time to post questions and opinions about their boat. This is why we value any and all of your input Andy! Right now you are the only one on here that I know of. So please keep doing what you're doing and keep posting, we all try to have a good time and learn something at the same time.

Lewis brings up a good point.  I can't tell you how many Aquas I see around Weeki Wachee and Spring Hill, yet I seem to be the only member here from these parts.  Everything from 22-2s and CCPs, to later model Explorers and Ospreys.

Go figure...

Here's one for sale in the Stuart, FL area, looks pretty clean. First 165 that I have seen up close.

I have one I am thinking of selling.... I love it and it is great in the bay here, but I like to fish off shore more and I am looking at a 222 Osprey. I rarely see them for sale and have only seen one wellcraft 160, never another striper in person.

I had a fantastic day fishing this last summer though, took my 165 Striper about 8 miles out without a gps or fish finder and caught our limit of snapper and kings amongst some pretty big boats going fishless...

Guys how do the 16s run with the 48 hp motor, I looked at one about 2 years ago that was a mess but it had a 90 on it.

With the 48, 2 200lb men, and gear I would get up to around 23mph on my handheld gps... So not a speed demon at all. I think it would really fly with a 90.
