Put the numbers on yourself?  WHAT??

Be thankful you have an elightened government.
That's a hangin' offence here.  Why, in Hartford's eyes, that's right up there with counterfitting & smoking!

You have me wondering now....
I bought this boat in '88 and don't remember what the heck transpired. I guess I'll have to look at the title and snoop around the boat a bit for any ID.
You did say that some etched your ID into the transom - right?

Yes.  The assigned number was etched into the top of the transom on the starboard side.  Builder's plate was left on the boat; inner side of the transom to port.

When I built my little Swamp Witch boat.
http://www.troutwagon.com/Nautical/Swam ... Witch1.htm

What I did was, when the hull number's were assigned, I went to a trophy shop and had them make a little plaque. Then I mad a jig for the router to follow and recessed a hole for the plaque to sit in. The plaque was then epoxy glued into the recess.

They want the number's put on so that if they are tampered with it will be obvious.

That much work is not nessissary, but it made a clean install. They frown on screw's, but pop rivit's are OK.
You could just have the plaque made and epoxy it on. If someone tried to remove it, it will surely show.

I have the original plaque for my Mako. It was pop rivited on, but is in poor shape. It's plastic.
"Just \'cause it\'s new, doesn\'t mean it\'s worth a Damn!

Halfway through leafing around Swamp Witch's diary of pictures I was thinking... WoodenBoat has got to see & publish this building progression...

How'd the show go?
