The circled parts are where the railing is missing chunks and also some on the other side. Doesn't look too bad in the picture but in person is another story.

Andy,

The insert went out today, USPS, and you should have it by the end of next week.  The shipping came out to $13.25.  Rather than reimburse me, do me a favor and give that amount to a worthy charity of your choice, or perhaps the victims of Sandy.

I'm glad the old insert found a new home rather than the landfill.  As I said, it is in pretty good shape, but you may want to give it a good washing before you install it.  Good luck, and let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for the update and I will donate the shipping plus to a Sandy cause. I have been working since Sandy to get this family back together. She works with us part time and could never quite get hired for one reason or another.She has a couple of kids and she worked a bunch of jobs to make ends meet.Recently she lost her fulltime securty job due to some budget cuts.

A fellow cop is in need. A female police officer, single mom to two older teenagers, one son one daughter, has had her home and all personal belongings destroyed in the hurricane. The things that cannot be replaced like family photos and decades old family items are the things that bother her the Most. While we all complain about power, heat, snow, gas lines, and politics, her family has survived living in misery. No power, no belongings, no home.
Being a part time employee of the county, no benefits and she works multiple jobs to stay afloat. Staying afloat means cutting costs. Cutting costs means no insurance.
I am taking donations of warm clothing, blankets, cleaning supplies, bottled water, nonperishables, gift cards to target and walmart, or any monetary donation you would be so generous to make. Her house will need undoubtedly to be gutted and started from scratch. if you have any experience doing any contractor type work like this and would like to donate time she will take that too.

The other day it was fairly warm and I removed the old rub rail. When I got it out it was like it was petrified, I couldn't even fold it up to toss it in a bag for the garbage. The railing was like a long piece of cement. Today I got the rub rail that Craig was sending up (Thanks Craig) it is still very pilable but the weather up here turned very cold so I guess that I'll have to wait to install, I will post some pictures when I do though.

Weather got up to 43 degrees today so I went out and put the rub rail on the boat. Thanks Craig it came out great I will post some pictures when I can. I had about 11' left over so I will send that along to Mark for what he needs it for. Everything went smoothly except that I laid down the heat gun while I was putting the rail in the groove and it started to fall, I wound up grabbing it with my bare hand as a natural reaction. Hopefully the burns will go away fast.

Unfortunately, have had more than my share of heat gun incidents... :shock:  :shock:

Glad the insert is able to start a new life, Andy!  Those heat guns do get hot...and they stay hot for a suprisingly long time!

Craig--Thanks again. Those heat guns do stay hot for awhile the boat came out great and it was easier to do than I thought it would be. I'm guessing that it because it was on another boat already and shaped a little. Hopefully Mark will get back to me or someone will have his mailing address and your rubrails will help two boats out. I'll have to post some pics in the spring when everything warms up.
