Hey man, in all seriousness, that is a pretty easy addition that (IMO) might make your boat more user friendly for your applications.  Wait till next winter, and let's set it up!  I even have some hatch molds that would work up there.

JJ, what kind of WOT and cruise speeds are you getting with the 225 johnrude? Is that a 97 CCP? A bracket would give you the platform from which to throw your net :lol:

Richard, sounds like a plan to me.  :)

badger, '78 CCP, '93 225 OceanRunner.  She will hit 40 mph @ 5800 RPM with a full load.  Just me, no gear, 1/4 tank it hits 6100 RPM.  It's a 4-blade prop.  I could probably get more with a 3 blade.  With the current setup, she will not always stay on plane below 4200 RPM unless the wind is at your back.  Today all I care about is efficiency.   :roll:

I meant to ask if it was a 87 model not a 97. Mine is hard to keep on plane as well though 3200 and above it's ok. Before the bracket it was 3600 and above. I would be curious to see a picture of your hull. Mine is pretty much smooth the entire length, no strakes on the rear. My top end is in the 50's which is more than enough, so I may consider going to a mirage 4 blade to aid in the lower RPM's to stay on plane and help with hole shot although the hole shot is decent as is. I seldom run WOT if for no other reason because of fuel economy. I'm hoping next year to purchase a Merc 250XS but that may just be wishful thinking on my part. What the hell! You gotta have something to shoot for.LOL :lol:

Looks good I haven't been back to Biloxi post Katrina. I've been stationed at Keesler twice. Last time I took my 75' 222 down with me and I had blast around cat and ship island. The new bracket looks good. DP

Why do you think that is JJ?  Does it have anything to do with the T-top?

I don't know Rick.  I took the tower off a few weeks ago thinking the wind resistance and weight was killing me.  It did not make that much difference.  It does feel better when turning but no big difference in performance or GPH.  I'm seriously considering taking the t-top off also.  Primarily because I can't get under the Skyway Fishing Pier for bait but it should help some.  I'm thinking tune-up and different prop will make a big difference.  I would give a lot for one more MPG.

For my experience a Ttop only makes a 2-4 mph difference (top end)- so I doubt that's the issue... I would say prop possibly- because your top end rpms may be a little high.  Pitch up, prop pushes you further at lower rpms, maybe you'll stay on plane at more reasonable rpm ranges.  

Or I could be completely wrong...

This is a picture with the motor in the second hole from the top. Yesterday I moved up to the third hole and the wake cleaned up a great deal but I lost 200rpm and 6-7mph at WOT. I honestly thought I would gain rpm. guess I will try and go the other way and see what happens.

Nope, just motor bolted to the bracket. If did not know better I would say it could go one hole higher but I hate to run it up that high. In the third hole today the cavitation plate is about an inch below the surface running at cruise speed. I honestly thought bringing the prop closer to the surface would yield higher rpm's, but that was not the case. I'm thinking I may need to re-prop to another pitch to get the rpm's and top end up. I'm running a 19" pitch now. With the motor mounted in the third hole my WOT rpm's today were 5100 and 47mph

I was hinting that if you had a jack plate you could adjust it on the fly and get it perfect without having to move the motor manually.
