Control cable length for 22-2 CCP
« on: June 09, 2015, 11:57:06 PM »
I am trying to figure out what length cables I need for my boat, I measured and came out to 16ft. I just wanted to see if that was an accurate measurement.

Mid,
When you state you "measured" was that the actual cable? Measuring the existing cable(s) is usually the first advice given on the Forum. Second would be to inspect the cable which sometimes has the length shown in the jumble of numbers at one end.

"Second, assuming they are Morse cables (usually are), there should be a P/N at one end of the cable.  The last 3 digits of the P/N are the cable length in inches.  If per chance they are Teleflex cables, the last 2 numbers are the cable length in feet.  This will tell you what length the new cables should be so you order the right ones."

Again I'm assuming shift/throttle is what you're looking for correct?

I'll do a quick search and see if someone replaced cables on a CCP.

Meantime, food for thought.

They are the red morse cables, I couldn't find a p/n on the engine end of them last night, I'll look at the helm side.

I came up with 16 by using a tape measure and following the old cables route. 18's may be the ticket. I may just pull one of the old ones out and put the tape measure to it.
