Just brought home my 87 222 Sandpiper and everything is in real good shape. The only thing I noticed is that the gas gauge does not work and there is no gauge below the flange on the floor. I am guessing I will need to utilize my tester as well as to check the ground and the fuses to boot. Any other insight is appreciated.

Sounds like a plan to me. Maybe the sending unit is toast.

If you just bought the boat I would pull the access hatch and inspect the tank while you are trouble shooting the sending unit. Should be easy to do with the Sandpipper and it will give you piece of mind when you hit the water.

I had considered a Sandpipper because it has the same hull as the 222 CCP. Just could never find one close to me. Have you got some pictures you can post?

The tank is only two years old so it should be fine. Problem is they probably never replaced the sender and float when they put the new tank in. I will get some pics up after the weekend. Lots of room on the sandpiper.
