The jury is still out about putting the foam back in the stringers.  Some guys leave it out to avoid the problem of water intrusion and carrying around the extra water logged foam weight.  I'm planning on replaceing all the foam in the stringers because I think it makes for a more solid construction, adds some bouyancy, and makes for an overall better ride.  Those plans may change though.
