22-2 Flat Back in Penobscot Bay

Hi,

New member here looking for a little flat back advice. I have a line on a nicely restored 67 22 FB, but I'm a little concerned about no dead rise in Penobscot Bay ME.  Anybody out there have experience with this boat in these waters?  It can kick up pretty good in the afternoons here - what's the truth about FB's when it gets rough?
Are we talking a little pounding or is it simply not the right boat for any real chop?   For what it's worth, when the transom was rebuilt the cutout was raised to accommodate a long shaft.

Thank's for any insight, sometimes it tough to sort through the hyperbole in boat descriptions.

I don’t speak from experience On this particular hull (I will soon) but trim tabs will drastically improved your ability to improve the ride while using the front vee to break the waves up. However, it’s been my experience from this control that you will typically be soaked depending on wind and how you are coming into the wave.

They are capable hulls but in Florida they are more commonly used in shored in the flat but have the capability of getting accross large bodies of water where a bad chop with 3-5 ft can happen on a nasty day.

If you are concerned about chop and not needing to get into skinny water, I would suggest the semi vee 12 degree 72-88ish hulls. They do much better in a chop and are really a completely different hull.
