Dr. Mike's "22-2"...
« on: September 24, 2010, 03:27:52 PM »
...Or whatever she was called in 1967!  Beautiful boat, but her helm is a bit messed up, wiring wise.  Tried to clean it up a few weeks ago, but she needs a whole new helm wiring job...so that's the project for the next few days...

We'll see how she turns out.  The morons who rewired her were truly that...morons... :x

Hey Bob,

I think that is the boat that was rebuilt on boatbuildercentral.com.  They did a great job!  I can't believe someone did a crappy wiring job.  Anyway I am taking mine out for a maiden voyage this weekend.  5 coats of paint inside and she is almost done!  Thanks again for your hard work!

If I ever have to redo my 200 it is getting a solid transom. These boats look way to cool with a full transom

Alex,
The Doc wants it looking like your boat, and it is FAR from that!  When I worked on her first, she had 8 positive leads coming off the house batt...and it has a batt switch!!!  Turn the batt switch off, and it killed the motor, nothing else!  Brain dead you know whats...

Same moron did some wiring in my CCP.  When I got the boat it had at least 6-7 wires on the crank battery post and the battery switch only killed the motor and running lights.  Most of the add-on wiring was household romex with wire nuts.

Man what a mess. Bob I can tell you where a eng. So was I for a defence contracter. Can't stand seeing wring that puts a birds nest to shame. Spent to many years looking at good wiring jobs. Tech's use to show me all their tricks when I first went to work there. Now a days I do all my own wiring. which drives the boat dealers around me nuts.

My 2000 200 Osprey wiring looks like someones monkey was in the console, and then they mounted two batteries in front of it all. When I need to check anything, pull battries and run battery cables. good luck doc.
