Stringers

(1/1)

Guthrie Boatworks:
What is the purpose of the foam in the stringers? It obviously isn’t structural. Is it to fill the void?

RickK:
It reinforces the stringer's trapizoidal shape - so it is structural.

Guthrie Boatworks:
Gotcha, thanks for the reply

Mwar410:
Any reason why no one runs their rigging tubes in the stringers? I’ve been reading a lot of the threads and don’t recall any mention.

RickK:
There have been a few rebuilds where they do run them in the stringers. Getting the engine controls through the PVC is tough due to the bend to exit. I ran my rigging tubes straight out the back of the fuel tank coffin but needed to route the rigging to the corners where I built cabinets.  I went through the stringer, side to side at a 45 to accomplish this.
