I am going to try and keep my problems to this thread I have gutted my 222 .All stringers look great.Rot in transom .All wood had some rot.I will use Coosa for new transom.What other foam choices are there?I am ordering a gas tank and wondered how big was the original tank? looked to be 50-70 gals? also what was the dead rise?14 ? help.

I have a 1987 222 Osprey.  It has a 70 gallon tank and a 12 degree deadrise.

1st I am not savy enough to post pics here so go to my web page under fish repots.I will put more up this weekend .  www.fish-riomar.com
I have gutted the boat and tossed the liner.I have removed the inside glass and the plywood on the trasom .Now do I go with the Coosa bluewater or Riencell (sp) or some other product to replace the plywood .My friends in the boat building biz all say go with wood .But they all build 40-60' sportfishers (Hatteras style).I like the high desity foams.Any input?????

Welcome aboard

Take a look at this site.  Tons of good information on rebuilding, especially the pros & cons of wood & foam.  I am going entirely with marine plywood for my rebuild.  Proper construction and will ensure you have a permanent solution without the added expense of foams.

Come on guys - it's not hard to post pictures here.  Follow that link and you'll find that it's a piece of cake.  Riomar, if you can upload then to your website then you could do it here too just as easy. In fact, you can even point to them on your site from here and they'll show up here, using these instructions.  You can handle it.

hey rio, a few different materials will give excellent results. But don't rush. Besides this site maybe visit classicmako.com, and the ship-shape boating site. John G redid a  70's sea bird soup to nuts including transom w/ a nice armstrong bracket!
   But for pete's sake take the oppurtunity to improve access and redesign hatches to service bilge, wiring, livewell plumbing, etc. AND last but not least think carefully about scuppers and the self bailing characteristics of the boat. If a newer d.i. 2 stoke is being mounted(assuming an example of 150 hp), it will be between 50-100lbs heavier than the carbed equivalent the boat the boat was designed for. A new 4 stroke could be as much as 150lbs heavier. Don't quote exactly, i deal mostly w/yamaha and of 200hp and up, but scupper placement and deck drains should be altered slightly. Being too high or low by 1/16 of an inch can be a major drag, GOOD LUCK!
