rear cleats 17'
« on: May 25, 2007, 08:46:10 PM »
Am considering installing hause pipes & thru transom bolts to attach rear cleats. like the way they are installed on flatbacks. am considering cutting circular hole in the inside panel (large enought to make fast a line) & a hause pipe thru the gunnel top plate. the current arrangement: (cleats are screwed to the inside on the transom).(seems like a mickey mouse arrangement) Has anyone else done this? Also does anyone know where to purchase a bow light like the ones installed on the flatbacks. I'm referring to the light that has  line chocks along side of the light & the line runs almost straight back to the foward cleat. Thanks Scuppers

Hi Scuppers, do you have any pix of your boat(s)?  I'm a little confused - I thought you had a 222 FB but this topic has 17' in the title :?:  :?   Do you have both?

HI Rick, Yes, I have a 1970 22'2" Osprey & a 1980 17' Osprey. I have owned the 22' since 1986,  its a challenge to launch by myself. However I wouldn't dream of selling it. It took me three years to retore it & when I took her out for the first test ride, its performance far exeeded my expectations! Its in orginal condition with a 140 Evinrude & I love that boat! I decided a 15' Boston Whaler  would be a good choice for a boat that i could take out by myself. I was totally disgusted with that over rated boat( i hate it) it has a drinking problem and burns 4 gal/hr witha 70hp outboard. I then realized that a smaller Aquasport would have been a better choice. I am now selling the whaler & restoring the 17'. I'm hoping the 17' will thrill me as much as the 22' does. Thanks for asking. Scuppers

Ahhh, I'm actually not as confused as I thought
Any pix of them?  I want to see the 222 for sure.
