My baby's been at the shop now for almost 3 weeks.

So far they've removed and re-cored the cap and started cutting out the deck.  I've added a few pictures.

For the cap core and eventually the new deck, they are using a fiber infused foam core sandwiched between layers of fiberglass.  He called the foam core "Cusa"???? or something like that.  The new stringers will also be fiberglass over a foam core.  

Next for me is to find a new gas tank and fresh water tank. That way they can re-do the stringers around the dimensions of the tanks.









Cap with old core still.

wow is this the way they support the cap when it's removed. or just to reglass the the underside so it won't worp. becouse I will be pulling my cap here real soon. an I will be doing a fair amount of glass work to it.

Thanks for the link Warthog.

Slim, i didn't see them actually take it off but it looks like they built the frame and attached it to the cap. Then removed the frame and cap all at once, then flipped it to re-core it.

Comming alone a few weeks ahead of schedule!

The floor is cut out. Stringers are out up to the casting platform.
stringers were soaked with water. The wood on the stringers were rotted in a few places.

Friday they were making the mold in order to pour the new transum next week.

Good reference pictures for cap removal.   Think that's what I'll be doing with my 22-2.

A bit more progress, as of a week ago, the casting deck and it's stringers were removed.  They found some soft areas in the keel pad and replaced it.
The new transum is poured.
As of today, the boat is now off the trailer and on supports so it can be trued.
I was told new stringer layout / planning would start today.

Hey Jim,

Basic layout but they will need to accommodate a new fuel tank, water tank, a few new below deck hatches and reinforced in the areas of a T-Top.

Richard, I like your aluminum Pi solution for reinforcement but I don't know what Shawn has in mind.

Latest update.

Had a little rot in the keel pad to replace.



Stringers are starting to go in.








Added support for the T-Top and leaning post.



Getting a new aluminium fuel tank & plastic water tank hopefully by next week.  Then they can start the deck.  

Still looking for an engine (175 - 200hp).

Is that brown material masonite?  What size fresh water tank did you decide on?  Where will it go in the layout?
