1995 Explorer 225 wiring

Hello group

I changed a switch on my new purchase this morning, no big deal.
But, the wiring in the console was nothing I'd ever seen. The 2 wires to the switch were easy, but , above each switch was ANOTHER switch-looking thing with several wires.

I've looked online regarding this, to no avail.

Question: what ARE these things?

I'm guessing they are the original factory thermal breakers.
