What is the difference between a 225 evinrude and a 200 evinrude of same year? Is it really just the carbs or is it more in the cylinders

Spend some time doing a parts # comparison on any of the sites selling 1994 Evinrude components. I think you'll find the big difference is in the carbs and the decals.

Here's a start. Knowing the correct model # helps with an apples to apples compare.

Good luck.

25HP out of a set of carbs, where do I sign up?! The major difference is engine porting. The size and/or location of the intake and exhaust ports are different on the 225. The 200 and 225 are basically identical engines but the 225 breathes more with larger main jets, possibly larger venturi openings, timing curve changes and bigger ports.

Thanks capt bob and fitz, I only ask because the engine I'm buying is a 200 from a shop that does a lot of rigging and rebuilding. This is the same shop helping me with my transom problem. So when I went there yesterday to give some more $$$ to the cause he told me that he was ordering the new wiring and he received new components for my motor and he mentioned 225. My eyebrow went up and I said 225 or 200 he says 225 I'm making that a 225 for you the only difference is in the carbs and throats. So me being me and not too trusting I asked on the forum. These guys are so down to earth and they keep saying don't worry it's all fixable. Ever since I started grinding and saw the rot I have been a nut. These guys even had there glass guy there to look at it and they told him give me a better price to reglass the repair or we will do it ourselves. The glass repair goes down the port wing to 4" under transom cap accross to starboard wing and up to about 6" below Gunnal cap in all there is a 4" u missing from the outer skin and after the pour the transom cap, and the glass guy wants $750 to make it pretty again. The guys at the shop said no way do better. I will do it myself Besides if it's not the best work some of it will be covered with the transom plate I want to put in it. Thanks for the help guys I guess these guys ARE going to do the right thing I wanted to post pics of what it looks like now but they won't go, ski.
