1975 22' cabin model

(1/1)

Curious:
I am looking at a 1975 22' Aquasport cabin model with a small V-berth.  It's not a walkaround, it's an earlier model.  It has the sides that curve down just aft of the windshield and helm area.  Looks like a nice old battle wagon with plenty of life left in her.  It has an old 150 Evinrude that is seized, I'm told from overheating.  The only obvious problems are a small crack in the deck and some delamination on the transom.  Does anyone have any info about these boats?  Is the transom prone to rot and weaken?  Is 150 hp enough for this boat?  It's been sitting for a while and the current owner wants $1500 for it, just to get out from under yard storage fees.  Just waiting to sort out the title which is a whole 'nother story.

Curious:
Just read about one of the same boats for sale on the classified forum and the owner discovered some delamination on the bottom.  I guess it's time to go over to the yard and roll around in the mud with a rubber mallet???

Wilson:
I think those title issues may be a PITA.

As for the hull, I'd be willing to bet that it is the same hull as everyon else's 222 of the same era, only with a different cap and or liner.  If you take a look at everyone else's projects, you will get a decent idea of what is under the deck.

There is a good chance that there is water trapped in there somewhere.
