Once again, thanks to all!!!

Just left, she was out like a light!!  Morphine...better life through chemicals!  The pain from the fracture is what's getting her, normally hip replacements are the result of a degenerative condition in the ball/socket, so those types of patients can rest comfortably, even get up and move around prior to replacement.  Not Maggie, she is basically stuck in bed.  Combine that with the extra precautions and testing due to the fact that she is a cancer (stage 4) survivor...well, it's just taken a bit longer than we would have wanted.

Tomorrow morn, 0700, she gets a new hip.  And one of things that attracted me to her when I first laid eyes on on her...was her hips.  This one better not F that up!!!

Hey Bob I don’t feel slighted as much as just being my self, a nosy busy body  . I’m like a cat, I wanted to know what was happing before it happens. But once sandy stopped by to say hello. Again just like a cat. I lost interest because, all I had to do was look out the window to see her :thumright: .  But you my friend. Just listen to uncle ole fart Salty and take care of your self, so you can take care of the wife. I’ll definitely say a prayer again in the morning. And I’m sure you won’t even notice the new hip. :thumleft:

Doing fine Walt, as is Maggie.  And I ate my vegetables today (Maggie is ALWAYS getting on my a$$ about that!), behaving myself, just taking care of things on the homefront and trying to get a little work done.

Glad you guys survived Sandy in good shape, wish others had been more fortunate.  One always has to consider the misfortune of others when one looks in the mirror.  Do I really have it so bad?  Nah, not really...

Well, Maggie got through surgery just fine, she has a new hip, and was resting comfortably post op.  Was starving, ate a pretty good lunch (Brooksville Regional actually has pretty good food!), then off to night night, still getting over the anesthesia.

Unfortunately, our fears of cancer have materialized.  Her surgeon called me just after he was through, he said there is evidence of a cancer in several bones.  It could be a resurgence of her long in remission breast cancer, or it could be a new type of cancer.  We won't know until the oncologists do their diagnosis.  Then, of course, there will be the prescribed method of treatment, be it chemo, radiation, or both.  Not fun, she went through that about 16 years ago, but she was obviously 16 years younger then.

So we have a few hurdles to overcome, a few difficult times ahead of us.  But it is always best to fight battles of any sort when someone is by your side, as we all fight our battles in some way or another...

Just wanted to let you guys know...

Bob Happy to hear Maggie came through the surgery OK You need to help her through the therapy now, that is the most important thing with joint replacement. It will take some work but she will be good to go in a short while.

Bob glad to here Maggie’s surgery went fine. As for the cancer. Just take it one step at a time. Get through the recovery for the hip and deal with the cancer treatment when it comes. If it had to be there, then it was good to find it now. We know you will be by her side and we will be by both of your sides. If not directly, then by prayer. God bless you both, and he will be their for both of you as well.

Well that's a ton of bricks....Know the feeling; did a stint with non- Hodgkins lymphoma 18 years ago. 6 months chemo, old lady split, divorce, child custody, the full monty; I'll never forget '94. Make sure MD Anderson gets a look at her biopsy, they saved my ass. She's scared right now. Be strong for her without her seeing you change too much. What I mean is don't let her see panic, it makes it worse. Lead, guide, direct and make sure these doctors are on top of this. If she needs a marrow transplant, stem cells, whatever, let us know. We'll get screened for a match if we need to. This is when friends come together and you have more than you know. God bless you and Maggie. Keep your pride out of this and ask when you need something... We're here for you!

Thank you gentlemen, thank you.  One step at a time.  Tonight she ate a pretty good dinner, then off to la-la land again.  Tomorrow starts the physical therapy fun...

I have address labels to make...

A lot to digest Bob but remember, you have world class treatment facilities right down the street in Tampa and for what it's worth, they save my ass too, at least for a while.

Good luck to you both.
