We started today!  Stripping her down. Our first major encounter.. The plywood floor is somewhat soft. We drilled a few pilot holes, 2" wide to discover the plywood was water logged and semi rotted.
NEED SOME ADVICE<  
    Should we replace the plywood? The floor board has fiberglass on the top as well as the bottom.
    If I email some pictures, can someone advice on where to cut and what to do ? Thanks RG

The short answers are: yes and yes.

If you spend some time reviewing back through the AS Rebuilds section you will see several floor rebuilds.  Two projects being done right now are LilRichard's and Shine's.

We've had some problems with the photo gallery on and off so I only use www.photobucket.com.

If you do want to post from the gallery,  RickK put this up a while ago on how:

Go find the picture you want to use in a post and click on it so you see it in it's largest size. Now look down the page and the last line in the info below the pic is this line: "UBBCode: img]http://www.classicaquasport.com/gallery/data/......JPG[/img" (I purposely left off the starting [ before img and ending ] after the last img so you could see what is between them)
You highlight everything except the UBBCode: and paste it in your thread. It's that easy.

Did someone say rotten floor????   :shock:  :shock:  :shock:



If it's solid in may places, you may not have to replace the entire thing.  Drill a bunch of pilot holes to determine where bad ends and the good starts.  Replace only what you need to if that's your thing.  As for me, I like uniformity and knowing what I've got.  Just the back 3' to 4' of the floor in my 170 is bad, but I'm doing the whole thing.   Complete removal, new core, new bottom glass, new top glass, etc.  I'm a glutton for punishment.  :)

It looks like you going to need a new transom, new sole (at least part of it), and probably new stringers (st least part of them).

The more you dig into the boat, the more yo will know :wink:

Hopefully the stingers will be in good shape and you will "just"need a new sole and transom.

removed the fiberglass covered plywood floor today. Pictures to follow later on. Question..  I thought the stringers would be solid wood. They seem to be molded foam, glassed into the hull bottom. Is this correct? When I replaced the floor in my Grady it was a series of 2x8's running the lenght of the boat.
     The center beam on the Aqua seems to be a solid beam wrapped in foam and glass wrapped.
     I have to clean her up and will take pictures.  Any help would be appreciated. Thanks RG
