Johnson 1990 V6 200hp - stator replacement
« on: October 07, 2020, 09:30:15 AM »
J have a bad stator and trying to replace it. The new part is almost identical with one exception: a set of yellow wires should be yellow and yellow/black, but the part has it as both yellow. Not sure how to connect it to the distribution strip - does it matter if they are reversed?

i dont have the same motor as yours, but i just replaced my stator and had the same question. From what I can tell (mine is working), it doesnt matter which you put to which AS LONG AS you connect the yellows where the yellows went previously. mine had a set of yellows and a set of browns. as long as i didnt mix or swap the locations, it didnt seem to matter which of the pair went to which terminal.

hope this helps.

PS - just found https://forums.iboats.com/threads/2-yellow-wires-on-new-stator.204257/ - if you read down about 1/2 way, someone else says it doesnt matter.

good luck!
