what kind of tubing for floor drains
« on: March 28, 2020, 08:34:50 PM »
was pressure washing the topside, the one drain kept getting clogged.  tried running a snake through it and I couldn't get it through.  pulled out the battery that was overtop it and took out an access panel and found the hose was kinked at the bend. I was able to squeeze the kink with a pair of channel locks and get the clog freed up, but I'm afraid of it getting clogged again and probably would end up happening on the water, the worst place.  I would like to replace the hose but don't know what kind of hose to use.  looked on west marine and just got confused.  any help would be greatly appreciated

Marine sanitation hose, either the rubber or PVC reenforced vinyl are good.  Just make sure they’re rated for below water line use.  There’s a similar product to the PVC reenforced vinyl that is sold for bilge pump hoses that is good too.  Be sure to avoid the cheap corrugated bilge pump hose.  Some builders also use exhaust hose.  It’s overkill, but as long as it’s rated for below waterline it will do.

Whatever hose you use, periodic inspection is essential.  One cracked hose can sink a boat.
