Title: Smart Rails, need help
Post by: TERN TWO on January 16, 2006, 05:48:13 PM: I"am looking to put smart rails on my 77 24 cc inboard. Does any one have experience with these,Would i put them just above the chine or higher up the sides.It seems to me that if you put them on the chine at low speed they would be under water and i would like to stop some of the spray at low speed. Looks like they ought to do the job. From the looks of the Fast Rails site http://www.fastrails.com/product/rail_p ... -guide.htm (http://www.fastrails.com/product/rail_placement-guide.htm) they likely could answer any specific questions you have. Let us all know what you find out... Most of us have the same spray problem.

Kidding aside, the guy I bought my rebuilt motor from has those on his personal deep water boat but I guess they don't stay on well enough for him, so he screwed them on.

Post by: captflatback on January 17, 2006, 02:49:40 PM: I had a custom set of rails made for my 222 and had them installed along the chime and they work great i'll try to get a photo of them up in a day or so. They start from the bow and i went back 15 feet to just in back of the console and at the lower speeds it still works fine plus it gives me some lift when coming out of the hole. I got them down at Hammerhead Boats and he painted them the same color as the hull and they look great.
