I have the developers looking at the gallery and Avish is tweaking some stuff so let's back out of the gallery for a bit to see what they can come up with. (SB this might explain why you're getting the errors)

I was able to rotate Eddie's pic and then post. Also, I copied another of Dburr's pics and posted with my phone. Seems to be working better now. I'll try an iphone later after my son gets off work.

I rotated Eddie in your gallery. He should be upright. I noticed another pic that needs rotating. You can do that via "edit".

Also I noticed that since we changed smileys, all the older posts lost theirs but then you guys probably knew that already.

From the profile page.

1st try was Upload Avatar.  This takes me right to the photo gallery on the pad.. Select the picture, then it loads and I can see a tiny picture.  Then hit change profile and nothing happens..

Then try specify by URL, I try Eddies URL and Thumbnail.. Nothing but the little blue ?

So, I assume it is me..

Thoughts?

OK Dave,
This is what I did from my laptop, not my phone.

Went to your Gallery, right clicked on Eddie and from the drop down box clicked on "copy image location".
Next I went to your profile and made sure I clicked on the "Specify avatar by URL".
Made sure box was blank.
Clicked on box and pasted (Ctrl+v).
This pasted the link of Eddie I copied into the box (that was completely blank).
Clicked "change profile" lower right and he appears as your avatar.

Note: I did not size the avatar first. I used the size of Eddie's pic from the Gallery as posted and the Forum software resized the avatar.

Haven't tried this from my phone but will later.

I do 99% of my viewing on the iPad.  You did the same thing I did but you won!  My conclusion is that it is possibly an iPad issue.

From my iPhone I can't seem to do much with pics except upload them .  Seems the mobile portion is too dumbed down.  From my droid tablet I can't do any more than that either. I will look into it some more once the site settles in a bit, so I don't break it on the first day  ??? .

Well I guess I should jump in here since CB can't do any of the items you mention.
1) I'll look into the join date.  I know that I cannot tell you your member number anymore because SMF assigns a random number that means nothing.
2) Let me look at the sig box - should accept the normal BBC code like before
3) I have a few smilie packages that I installed, I'll see if I can use the old one too - so a WIP.
4) Not sure but I'll look into it.

#1 Done - is under your Avatar so you can remove or change your personal message.  I can config it to show location or join date or both.
