Post by: Capt.MattF on July 03, 2019, 03:10:49 AM
Hey captains , I’m having some  difficulty finding marine plywood for my decking on my 1970 flat back to to to aqua sport everywhere I look online it only want to send you one or two sheets of marine ply I was hoping someone could help me or leave me in the right direction on where I go about getting marine ply for my deck I’ve checked a few places out online and they don’t really tell you much the little they do tell you is that they only ship online a few pieces at a time now  Barnegat seems plead the place to go for cruise aboard and reply if anyone here has any insight on where to get a decent amount of marine ply that would be great I’d like to keep my project moving and although the marine plywood and be something I start right away due to the stringers and re-foaming them it’s still something I’d like to order and measure out to see if I have enough or if I need more any info would be great again thank you for any interest in this post And I look forward to hearing your responses thank you

Yeah, check the big box lumber stores.  Both Home Depot and Lowe’s stack marine ply in my area.  Whatever you do, it’s much better to find sheet goods locally, or even a moderate drive away, because shipping can double the cost.

You’ll probably need 4 to 5 sheets for your 22-2, depending on what you’re doing with the casting deck.

Check with some local plywood lumber suppliers. Usually much better quality and selection than big box stores. Also your choice of rot resistant woods too. Remember marine plywood usually just means it has no voids in it and better quality, alost all plywood uses a wate resistant adhesive.

Capt. Matt,

There are 3 lumber yards in Barnegat that specialize in marine lumber that I know of.  There is also 2 further north near Toms River.  Any of those would carry more than enough form your needs. But before you trek up north, I would look around by you.  I cannot imagine with the the water between Sea Isle and Barnegat there isn't lumber yards down by you, that specialize in marine lumber.

Everyone thank you for the great advice .  I was talked into going with the pvc composite over coosa only b/c of the price.  She be alot stronger than she was and lighter.   I checked home cheapo and blows but non carried any marine grade ply close to home which is washington twp.  Southeast of philly jersey side of course lol.   With my busy day job and busier weekend charter captain 2nd job the project hasnt seen enough TLCNas i expected .   I did get the transom cut, sanded and ready to go for install.   I just bought a gallon of 2 part 2# foam for stringers. Im positive its not enough but they were all out of 5 gallon and the sh&t isnt cheap.   Any advice on binding pvc boards for transom and prepping stringers woukd help thanks agaib guys

P.s. For the life of me i cant add pics , what am i doing wrong ,,, every pic is over the size limit ,,, wtf ....

You are trying to attach the pics. There is a size limit when you attach.
Follow the instructions here http://classicaquasport.com/smf/index.php?topic=12725.0  - don't attach them, this is better for viewing.
Spend a few minutes to absorb the instructions. It's really easy.

Try Lowes - that is where I got my marine ply.
