Title: 97 225 Explorer prop
Post by: dgrs2 on August 03, 2021, 02:35:17 PM
I’m looking for suggestions on my prop. It a 15 x15 on a 97 225 Explorer. 24’ with evinrude 200 ocean pro motor. Cruises at 30mph@4200rpm. Top speed is around 37 with just myself onboard, @ 5200. I can go to 5500 and gain a few more mph but it sounds happier at 5200. Changing the prop to something larger will increase top speed, drop rpms and slow getting up on plane? Smaller prop helps get the hole shot but slower speeds and higher rpms? Or do I have this totally backwards.

I'm sure the prop gods will respond but I would first ask you; what are you trying to achieve?

Sounds like you're pretty close with the numbers for that motor.
Trying to gain more top speed?
Cruising speed?
Better fuel economy?

Better fuel economy and a little more top end speed.
