Prop for 1973 19.6"
« on: December 04, 2007, 07:37:50 AM »
Does anyone know how to find out the size of the prop that should be on a alpha one sterndrive.

The engine is a mercruiser 140 with a alpha sterndrive and the prop was lost about 15 years ago.

I can't determine the size and the pitch for the prop that should be on the boat.

any help would be great,

Alpha One uses the same prop as Mercury outboard V-6 versions from 135-225 HP.  Most are about 14" diameter and pitch varies.  I would guess that a 3-blade stainless 14 x 15 would be a good start for your boat - maybe a 14 x 17.

Hope this helps!

I have the 72 19/6 3.0L I/O thats for sale. The prop on it is a Michigan wheel 03025 14x19. There was a spare under the console when I got it that looked 30 years old same pitch.
