So I dug in.  What I expected AND a lot more bad news.  I only removed a 1 1/2 foot by 5 foot area, all of which was soaked.  And the foam isn't dripping soaked but I can take a paper tower push on the foam and see that there is water in the foam.  I think I'm and going to remove the entire floor next.  BUT hear is the problem.  The floor and the inside gunnels is one piece.  The floor does not extend to the hull.  As if the boat was built in two pieces.  Now I did see this in someone else's post but I guess I just didn't think about it.  I want to make this boat lighter then it was.  This is the reason I want to remove the wet foam.  But the problem is I can only think of one way to lay the floor back down.  Using thicker plywood on the floor, laying the floor from hull to hull, and inserting bulkhead.  This would add weight to the hull.  Not what I want.  If someone has an idea or suggestion please give it.  Anything would help right now.
Oh and to top everything off the transom is in worst condition then I thought.  If I am going to throw a new engine on it that has to be replaced!

Nels,

What you are referring to is the liner. The boat is assembled in three pieces: a) The hull skin, including stringers and transom b) the liner, including floor and interior sides, and c) the gunnel cap, including gunnels and bow cap.

There is a recent thread where the gent made a swing set apparatus above the boat, and used a come-a-long and prybar to separate the liner from the hull, after removing the cap. That is a neat way to do it, you keep the large part intact. Then you can recore the fiberglass floor skin with the liner upside down.

If you want to save weight, go with nidacore rather than plywood.

BN:  Lots of folks run a circular saw around the edges of the deck and remove and discard the old deck materials.  Dig out and discard all the old, wet foam under the decks.  You can re-foam with new material or put blocks in to allow drainage.  You can also put deck hatches in and use the open space for below-deck storage.  

Then put the new decking over the 1-2" lip left from the saw cut.  Decking should be composite material or 1/2" marine plywood with glass on both sides.  Composite weighs less and won't rot - ply is cheaper.  This does raise the deck up about 1/2 inch as well,  which is not a bad thing, but requires some filler over the stringers.  Once the new decking is in place, you can fair the edges into the liner sides and put the non-slip down.  This is about the easiest method for redecking a CCP.

I just spent an hour looking for someone who has detailed pictures on how to replace the deck and found nothing.  if anyone know where i can find picture let me know.  Also what are these composite boards for the deck?  are they structural? will they hold the console and seat?

Big Nels, don't know if this will help or not, but if you look at my post, 82 aquasport osprey 19.6 rebuild, you can see that I cut out my floor the way you describe..My boat has the liner made with the cap..I cut the floor out leaving about 2 inches all the way around, leaving the liner in place, used this to set the new floor on :) ..My floor was made with 3/4 inch AC plywood with glass on both sides..I did add some ply to the tops of my stringers to raise them up closer to the new floor level....replaced all the foam and replaced the foam in the stringers too..and I knew nothing about boat construction before doing any of this, just kept looking thru here and got all my info from here and the website of where I got my epoxy supplies from :pirat:... grans is a great example of a composite biuld :thumright:

Thanks for all the feedback!  It has helped me get an idea of what to do.  I haven't been able to do anything this past week.  Was busy and sick.  But my plan is to pull the deck off by taking a circular saw to the edge of the deck and around both the big fish box in front of the console and the box where the fuel tank will go.  I'm going to try to save them being the fish box will be my main storage area. Then I'm going to bite the bullet and insert bulkheads every 4 feet and lay in 3/4" plywood with fiberglass on both sides.  But before I do that I'm going to put a full flat transom on the back of her to open up the stern of the boat.  Hoping that the added extra weight of the boat wont hurt the performance of how she will run when I put the transom mount and engine on her.  She will be almost 25' long after that.  From what I heard the performance won't change that much on the larger center consoles.  Anyone have any feedback please let me know.

Ran a full platform on my CCP for 14 years. I happened to like it but then there's no accounting for taste.

There are a few others on this Forum. Lots of rebuilds with brackets. No one seems to complain.

OK it has been AWHILE since I did any type of work on my CCP (personal issues).  But I have been doing a lot of thinking about my boat.  I'm gonna go ahead and pull up the entire deck.  I did cut out the soft area and found everything was soaked. Almost looks like the previous owner sunk the boat. Then I'm going to replace the transom with the flatback idea.  I'll throw in some bulkheads to hold up the new deck and replace the foam and the deck.  But I have a few questions dealing with storage, fuel tanks, and power.  I'm going to be running this boat miles off the coast, considering that, I was thinking to put 2 motors on the back of her.  Doing that I was thinking of putting two fuel tanks in her on the outside of the existing stringers and then using the area that was used for a fuel tank for storage or a large fish box.  My questions are, what are the pros and cons of 2 outboards.  I was looking to put a 200hp or a 225hp four-stroker on there.  So I would probably throw 2 115hps or 2 130hps on her.  Second question is about the fuel tanks.  First is it possible to run 2 engines off one tank. And secondly is the the area next to the gunnels on the outside of the stringers a good place to put a fuel tank?
