check valves 87' 222
« on: December 17, 2005, 12:15:13 AM »
anyone replace these on the 222ccp, my best thought to be the leaks. Mine is an 87', can't imagine it would be much different from the many years. As i mentioned on another thread, my arms would have to be 6 feet long and as thick as candy canes to loosen these by hand. Has anyone replaced these?? How did you get to them? I am anticipating making major cuts next spring to get to them, any first hand knowledge or suggestions would help, thanks

Does the fitting go through the transom and directly into the well in one piece? That is the way my 83 222 was set up. I just removed the flat nut that was screwed down to the through hull fitting inside the live well. I then removed the two screws on the flange on the outside of the transom. Between twisting and hammering the fitting, it came out. I do not know if your's is set up the same way!

defiant, i already ripped out the livewell fittings and plugged them up, these check valves are on the starboard and port sides, just forward of the transom. I have 2 sceens on the aft deck for rain water to drain out, or rinse water, and have hoses that lead to these valves.there is also one from the coffin box just forward of the console on the starboard side
