Well sorry it's been a bit, but had to get rid of the Triton, then my little weekend in Sarasota...

So anyway, now we have a boat devoid of it's wire...

It was quite dirty in the console and the starboard aft compartment.  After a bit of cleaning, I decided they needed a paint job.  Nice and pretty white now, had some left over top side paint, just figured why put all new stuff over 25 year old filthy gelcoat.  All the wire, cables, terminals, fuse blocks, bus bars, breakers on order.

Pulled the trim tab pump and switch, things weren't looking to good...

Things weren't looking to good on the switch side, and the pump was rusty, no cover, filthy, wires corroded, but after a bit of elbow grease...

Pump runs like a champ, the switch has beautiful continuity (000) between all the switch positions.  That says a hell of a lot for a 25 year old pump and switch...

Are those the same solenoids that Chris had to make sure were not to tight for the trim system on his boat?

Yes Dave, same solenoids.  Rarely, and I mean RARELY do you have to mess with them.  In fact I didn't do anything to this pump except put a new ground on it.  Works like a champ.  Bennett's been using the same pump for what seems like forever, a classic adherance to the phrase "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"...

The switch, I simply removed all the copper contacts, cleaned off the corrosion with my dremel as I was seeing around 5 ohms resistance across the screw heads.  Nice clean contacts, new screws, resistance measures 000...me likes!! :thumright:  :thumright:

Dave, and others,
On the Bennett switch, ALL the screws need to be tight, even the ones with no wires attached.  Just a heads up.  Another thing, if tabs seem to fail "all of the sudden"?  The first thing you want to check is the ground on the back side of the pump.  Often the nut that secures the ground wire comes loose.  Remove the cover and grab the ground wire close to the ring terminal on the stud, see if you can rotate it.  If so, snug it up with a 3/8" nut driver, this usually solves that "sudden failure" problem...

you know, those pumps are so reliable, when I got Marc-Time in Savannah and got her back home, the tabs didn't work, the pump was mounted low in the stern area, took it out, inspected it... heard sloshing around... dis-assembled the pump motor, it was completely full of water (fresh) I think the DA PO left the plug in on the trailer during the heavy rains they had.  Sprayed it out with WD40, re-assembled, and never had a problem since.. Thats bullet proof

Pretty much Marc.  I've replaced 1 pump in all the boats I've worked on, and it sure wasn't Bennett's fault...

Bob, looking good.  I just got home 30 minutes ago after 13 hrs in the air and came straight to the site hoping for an update and I am not disappointed.  Off to a good start and I appreciate the extra touches I see already.

That sucks!!  Received what I think should be about all the supplies today (whilst I was down in Tampa doing another job), pics to ensue of the little I could do with what I had.

A start of what the e-box will look like...

Always fun to have goodies to play with...

The Blue Seas Fuse blocks I really like...

The one on the left has an integrated ground bus, that's going up in the e-box.  The helm will get the one on the right, as well as a separate bus bar, as there are quite a few more grounds down below (why I do it that way).  The bilge will get it's own bus bar as well...

Here you go.  Scroll down to see how I did that access panel starboard side...viewtopic.php?f=8&t=9830
