Hey Guys,

I finally had a chance to revisit the pulling of the existing sending unit with some CRC Freeze off as two of the screws were locked to the point that the heads were stripping.  That stuff, albeit recommended, did not do a thing and was a complete waste of money leaving me no choice to drill the heads off.  After some careful low-speed drilling I got the heads off clean at the base.  Once the existing unit was removed I was able to remove the remaining screw posts with some vice grips preserving the threaded holes and measure the tank depth.  New WEMA sending unit on the way at the proper length.  I'll keep you all up to speed on the little project once my unit comes in.  Once again, I can't thank you all enough for the invaluable guidance.

As a side note, the existing unit looked in fairly good condition but it was one that was length adjustable and kinda cheap looking. Since the boat is 14 years old I wonder if it was replaced at some point.  Anyway, the WEMA certainly looks like it will be higher quality. More to follow later this week.

Kind Regards,

Hello All,

Happy to report that the new WEMA sending unit went in last night without a hitch.  Unit tested and working correctly.  I am very pleased and somewhat relieved to have a working fuel gauge that's not lying to me! One of those things that’s kinda important.  :pirat:   Many thanks to all who continue to help me as I learn my way around my vessel.  Smooth water and tight lines!

BTW - Anyone going out to take advantage of the 2nd to last weekend for Gulf Gags?

I wish I was.. My girlfriend has booked my weekend for a trip to Orlando so no fishing for me. Next weekend is a wash as I have my kids (too small for offshore). Prob looking to make a run the first weekend in Nov. weather permitting. Gags will be closed but I was wanting to try for some AJs and Reds. Have some vertical jigs that are calling my name every time I open my tackle bag!  :thumleft:
