to box or not

I have a large center console with full opening front that I'm using in my '70 22-2 flatback rebuild.
I also have a t-top with e-box that fits this console.
I am leaning towards putting the vhf and fm/cd radio and speakers in the console and not using the electronics box.There's plenty of room and easy access in the console.( Seabob - you are going to love this - when I get it to you...)
So the question is - if you could put everything in your console - and eliminate the e-box - would you?

For me, an overhead e-box is just a place to store junk, maybe the VHF or stereo.  I get a crick in my neck trying to watch a gps or bottom machine in an overhead box.  If you can do without it that's less weight and wind resistance.

I like those words...

I kinda agree with JJ, although you don't want to get the console too busy, so you have to consider that.  If you decide to go with the box, that's where the stereo and VHF would live.  If you have the room below where they can be mounted, yet relatively easily accessed, then ditch the e-box, mount the GPS/FF on the dash, and call it a day...

If you have a box, put it on. Whether on not its used as an e box, its still additional, readily-accessible storage. Sunglasses, suntan lotion, maps, notions, etc.

A boat can't have too much storage. Plus, its the driest place on the boat.

I agree with Scott. Put in the box, great place to throw phone, camera,
 jackets after in warms up and other junk you want to stay dry.

Helped me make up my mind - not - sort of - maybe....  

And Bob - on a canal on the North side of the river - almost directly across from the mouth of the Braden River.
