Have davits but no lifting points on Osprey 195DC: solution?
« on: December 23, 2009, 03:06:27 PM »
I'm living by a dock with davits that would lift my 1996 Aquasport Osprey 195 DC from the canal, but the boat doesn't have lifting points; anyone know of some kind of affordable harness, sling or lifting straps with which to join the boat to the davits?

Slings would be a temporary solution but if your going to use them often I'd go ahead and put in a lifting eye on the bow.  I would think you have lift rings on the transom.

Get a cleat like this:  http://www.foreandaftmarine.com/7-0176.htm    replace the backing plate of your bow eye with one of these:  http://www.foreandaftmarine.com/7-0125.htm  and connect them to eachother with a 5/8" stainless steel rod.
