tunnel

Have any of you guys put a box tunnel, bubble box, or any kind of tunnel at all in your aquasports? I run a serious amount of shallow water and i was wanting the dimensions of a tunnel that worked. A guy close to my house did a rebuild on a '68 flatback and put a tunnel in it and it worked awesome, i just didn't get the dimensions before the owner got it back.

Have you ever run shallow in a well trimmed flatback?  I am not blowing any smoke here.  On a plane and trimmed out, I can skip across less than a foot- much less.  I'd be surprised if some of the spots I crossed were not 8" or less.  I would not do it on purpose nor often, but when that flat comes up on you, it's nice have the flexibility.    You can routinely run in a foot on a plane.

I can idle in 15" to 18".  This is all with a standard jackplate, not a porta-bracket.

All this being said, I cannot imagine that the expense and complications of a tunnel would be worth it.

Not sure where you are, but if you want a test ride in some shallow stuff, I'd be happy to oblige.

I thought about it but it's not worth the sacrifice of deeper draft at rest for me.  I had rather float shallow than run shallow.  Can't catch a fish at 50 mph anyway unless it's those Missouri Carp.

That's very weird - I saw the video from South America but didn't know we had the same thing here too.
