1969 23 CC or 1981 24 WA
« on: November 17, 2022, 01:47:39 PM »
I am looking at 2 aquasports and would like some opinions. First is a 1969 23 CC and the other is a 1981 24 WA That is a inboard/outboard. I am leaning toward getting the 24WA and adding a bracket to put twin outboards on it. But I do like a center console. Would be mostly running the Chesapeake bay but want something for offshore on good days.

Are you referring to a 222 for the 1969 boat? They didn't make a 23ft boat in 1969 so its hard to tell what your referring to without looking at some photos. Add some photos and we can help for your purpose. If you are looking at a 1969 222 it is more than likely a flatback model or the year is listed wrong. Your best bet would be to lean towards the 24WA in that case for offshore days where you need a vee to keep you a little more comfortable. Hope that helps.

Sounds like getting into a couple rebuilds there. That io with the engine tub pretty much makes removal of the whole rear deck up to the fuel tank. They bonded under the tub to hull makes for lots of fun. Tub is really beefy to support engine, it isn’t attached to stringers only transom, deck and hull

Thanks for both of your information, I'm going to look at them tomorrow starting with the 24 WA and will let you know what I find.

I agree with the others that the WA would be a safer boat in the Chesapeake bay.
